The Kingdom of Brookfield

Interesting how the Republican and Democratic Town Committees in Brookfield refuse to focus on issues, but instead prefer to focus on individuals? No wonder the issues in town come secondary to party dogma and allegiance.

Sound like the old Russia you use to know? Perhaps the Germany of a bygone error? A Red China model? Or perhaps the North Korea of today's modern era?

You know, the one where party affiliation was the only way you or your family could do something?

It's been rumored that the vacancy committee meetings of the Brookfield Republican Town Committee rival those of the McCarthy era...all that was missing was the glaring, searing lights.

Politics in Brookfield have turned ugly as the powers that be claw to hang on to their power to dictate. The party bosses Marty Flynn for the Republicans and Joni Park for the Democrats are appear to be out seeking control of:

· What the facts are to be
· Who may state the facts
· When anyone is allowed to speak

Further they appear to have been seeking to:

· Discredit anyone who doesn't belong to the Brookfield Political Machine
· Ignore any criticism of their actions with the dismissal of their hand
· Encourage a hostile work environment at town hall
· Prepare Brookfield for a special tax assessment to pay for their past sins since the town doesn't have any rainy day fund after their years of spending it down
· Dispense political favors at the expense of good government
· Seek out as scapegoats anyone who disagrees with their joint ideology

What exactly are they so fearful of? They sound like a modern day King George don't they?

Interesting how they have to convince you they're right? Intolerant of all those who might disagree?

Don't you think that asking questions is a healthy democratic tradition? Shouldn't you be able to answer them YOURSELF rather than have one of their lackey's come talk to you to show you the "right thinking" way? Shades of 1984? That was 25 years ago and yet, we live it today with Brookfield's Party Bosses ordering their minions to hunt down those who dare to speak out against the power parties of Brookfield or worse, the sin of having an opinion that is different than theirs? Are they the new "Hessians"?

Brookfield has truly morphed into the Orwellian political model that was feared; where there are only the one true party that speaks the only "approved" facts and all those who do not agree are disbelievers and heathens to be cast out and into the pit of fire. To be dispensed with.

The "Spanish Inquisition" of the current Brookfield Republican Town Committee vacancy committee interviews apparently clearly reflects it, lead by the Grand Inquisitor Lawrence "The Hammer" Miller.

Only "right thinking" Republicans need apply (the Republican Town Committee's website says there are no vacancies, and therefore does NOT encourage anyone who hasn't taken the oath of fidelity to "the machine") to ... and will be cross endorsed by ... the Democratic Town machine thru the apparent 'mutual aid pact'.

Sad for all those independent thinking Republicans and Democrats.

Sadder still for unaffiliated voters.

Worse for the all voters who , left with little choice come election day except to stay home, cast a ballot for "NONE OF THE ABOVE" when faced with the choices given by the party hacks.

And exactly why the low voter turnouts. It's what they want...basically, no input. These are the folks as the commerical says put the "NO" in IN-NO-VATION.
